The Althoff Gospel Crusaders are a ministry of service to the Althoff family.  As a service organization, the Gospel Crusaders lead songs for Masses and other prayer services at the school.  They have served as the ministers of music at prayer services in various schools in the Metro Saint Louis area and held concerts for other school.  They were part of the high school liturgy choir at the Belleville Chrism Mass.  They performed at a number of charity events for Bishop Wilton Gregory and the Diocese of Belleville.  Over the past year, Althoff Catholic High School has promoted the ministry of the Gospel Crusaders.  This promotion has marked a year of tremendous acclaim for each member.  Althoff is very high in its praise of the choir as ambassadors of faith and dedication to God.  

This year the Althoff Gospel Crusaders begin another campaign.  They will continue to enhance the worship experiences of the student body, perform at the Christmas Musical and the Spring Musical and continue to serve the diocese and other schools.  Our new campaign begins with the assistance of several grants, which will provide workshops and seminars from professional artists in Catholic Worship today.  Our plan will be to hold two concerts this year, one in the Fall and the other in late Winter, to raise funds for three main areas:
   The Songs of the Soul Workshop held here in the Diocese
   The Archbishop James Patterson Lyke Liturgical Conference in St. Louis.
   Trip to Chicago to sing at St. Peter Church in the Chicago Loop and perform for the Mayslake community in Oak Brook, IL.

The Althoff Gospel Crusaders are looking for students who are willing to commit to serve.  In particular, students who can sing soprano, alto, tenor and bass are vital to make our ministry strong.  Students, who play musical instruments, are needed to accompany the choir.  One does not have to have a perfect range and skills; a willing spirit to work with others and serve the Lord together makes our ministry whole.  

The activities associated with this program are:
1.      Practicing once a week for services, usually 8:00 am on Wednesdays.
2.      Singing at Mass, prayer services and special occasions.
3.      Signing and dancing and playing instruments.

 NOTE: Unscheduled Events

1. Music Workshop with a guest artist will be scheduled sometime in the semester or summer.
2. Summer Choir Camp at ACHS.
3. Summer Schedule
4. Possible Retreat with Resurrection Catholic Mission Choir with W. Clifford Petty and Father Manuel Williams - either before or after the Lyke Conference.
5. Year-in-Review Assessment Gathering.

   This schedule may change as we are asked to go places throughout the year.

   The Liturgy Choir practices each Wednesday morning during the school year at 8:00 am.  If you would like to join the choir, please talk to Father Ferd.
